Frequently Asked Questions

Who's the company behind Sciaticalm?

Medical Technology Ltd, one of the UK's largest healthcare device manufacturers. MTL's head office is in Guernsey with fulfillment operations in Southampton and the Netherlands.

Can Sciaticalm cure sciatica?

Sciatica is a symptom of an underlying medical condition, such as a herniated disc or other spinal abnormality which causes pain down the sciatic nerve. Sciaticalm has been shown to help manage the pain of the condition but it does not treat its underlying cause.

What do I do if it doesn't work for me?

Simple, every order comes with a pre-addressed label for returns so you can easily post it to us for a refund. We operate a 14 day money back guarantee for UK orders.

How does Sciaticalm work?

By applying precisely controlled frequency pulses to the sciatic nerve as it runs down the leg. As the pain is carried in the same pathway as the vibration this impedes the pain signals to the brain, helping you to manage the pain. This is a similar process to TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) but more effective and without using an electrical signal.

Is shockwave therapy an approved treatment?

ESWT (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy) is an approved treatment included in NHS guidance for doctors provided by NICE, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

Can Sciaticalm be used on other forms of painful condition such as tendon/tissue disorders?

Yes, there are other variations of the Sciaticalm device for conditions such as lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and plantar fasciitis (heel pain). Please contact us for more information if you're interested in these.

Can I use Sciaticalm anywhere and how many times a day can I use it?

Sciaticalm is light, portable and safe to use at any time it is convenient. Many users use the device under clothes or at home. Doctors usually recommend three treatments of 10 minutes a day but it can be used more often if required.

Can I use Sciaticalm with other treatments?

Yes. You can safely combine Sciaticalm with any other treatment. Sciaticalm is safe and side effect free and does not inhibit the effectiveness of any treatment.

Can I use Sciaticalm if I have a pacemaker or I am pregnant?

Yes. Sciaticalm is safe to use with a pacemaker or whilst pregnant.

I am under 18. Can I use Sciaticalm?

No. Sciaticalm is for use by over 18's only. If you are under the age of 18 and experience back or leg pain we recommend you see your doctor immediately.

How long do the batteries last?

On a single charge the integrated battery is suitable for 3 to 4 treatments. Charging takes 6 to 8 hours.

How do you charge the device?

Push the charger plug fully into the green pad where it says 'DC' and plug in the other end of the cable into a USB socket. There is a faint red glow when charging and a bright green light when charged. Remove the charger cable before activating the device.

How do you use the pulse settings on the device?

Press and hold the on/off button to turn the device on. Repeated pressing of the button cycles through the pulse modes. Press and hold the button to turn off. When starting, the device will always start at setting one. When cycling through the modes after mode 10, the device returns to mode 1.

Heather Elaine Geddes: I have found this device really useful. I have a trauma to my knee from an accident when I was young and now I'm in my mid 50s, I'm experiencing tremendous pain in my back and left leg from sciatica. I use it everyday even when I don't feel too much pain. I've started swimming too and it has improved my life. I still have to monitor myself and not over do things. Hope this helps
